Meant for use with the excellent retranslation hack. Said hack differs from the famous "Redaction" in several ways. A) Redaction removes certain dialogues and rewrites others based on convenience, not based on the original Japanese script--the retranslation is just what it says on the tin. B) the retranslation also comes with options for adding the map that came with the Japanese version into the game, allowing Simon to jump off of stairs, etc.--a lot of nice fixes that redaction doesn't feature.
You can find both the retranslation and Redaction on the usual rom hacking websites. Both are great ways to experience CVII if you found the American release frustrating.
